The Marinwood Community Services District Fire Department, the Community Center and Pool recreation programs, the parks, and the community open space are all central to the identity of the Community of Marinwood. 

The largest of our parks, Marinwood Park, is located on Miller Creek Road  adjacent to the Marinwood Community Center, Fire Station and pool.
The park consists of two large lawns, a fenced playground featuring swings, slides and a sandbox, barbecues and picnic tables. There is access to the creek, and plenty of hiking paths along Miller Creek and on Church Hill. There is a public restroom located adjact to the pool complex. Group picnic areas are available for rental.

Marinwood, a suburb in San Rafael, California, is known for its sunny micro-climate and close-knit community. The neighborhood features Eichler midcentury modern homes, characterized by flat or low-slung gabled roofs, exposed post-and-beam construction, and open floor plans. Other housing styles include midcentury ranches, Cape Cod varieties, and Spanish-style homes in the exclusive Regency Estates. 

The area is served by highly rated schools, including Mary E. Silveira Elementary School and Miller Creek Middle School. Marinwood residents enjoy numerous attractions, such as the Marinwood Community Center with its seasonal outdoor pool and adjacent Marinwood Creek Park, which offers play areas, walking paths, and picnic spots. The neighborhood is also close to the expansive Marinwood Open Space and Lucas Valley Preserve, ideal for hiking and bird-watching. 

Local amenities include the Marinwood Market, known for gourmet items, and nearby dining options like Red Whale Coffee and Mulberry Street Pizzeria. For shopping, Northgate Mall in the Terra Linda district is a few miles south. Highway 101 provides easy access to San Francisco, 23 miles away, and Oakland International Airport, 35 miles south. 

Public transportation is available via multiple bus stops along Miller Creek Road. Marinwood hosts various community events throughout the year, including a summer concert series, a fall festival, and the Raise a Glass wine-tasting event. The neighborhood's crime rate is lower than the national average, contributing to its appeal for families and individuals seeking a vibrant yet peaceful community.

San Rafael: 
The county seat of Marin, San Rafael is large, diverse, eclectic, and historic. That history stretches from California's beginnings, with the 1817 founding of Mission San Rafael on the old El Camino Real, to the construction of the eye-popping Marin Civic Center in the 1960s. Designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Civic Center was completed in 1962 and is so futuristic that it pops up in science-fiction films. 
San Rafael still looks to the future thanks to a vibrant downtown redevelopment effort. 

The focal point of downtown is the Smith Rafael Film Center, which features a state–of-the-art multiplex cinema that screens independent and foreign films.  Cuisine is eclectic: within a few blocks of 4th Street diners can find sushi, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican, and Puerto Rican food. Thursday afternoons in the spring and summer find 4th Street hosting a farmers market, which features live music.

The neighborhoods of San Rafael are equally distinctive. From the sought-after midcentury Eichler homes of Terra Linda to the Victorians that surround Dominican College and the custom homes of Lucas Valley, San Rafael provides diversity of price and style.
It's also easy to get away from it all in San Rafael. Nearby China Camp State Park is a jewel by the bay, offering: a kid-friendly, walk-in campground for tents only; a shallow, protected swimming beach; and biking and running trails.
